Installation
A beautiful Fireplace can add so much to the look and value of your home and is often regarded as a major style statement.
In addition to a glowing and more welcoming home, you´re creating a much healthier and more invigorating atmosphere, and adding to the character of your investment into the bargain.
However, never forget that essentially they are complex working appliances that must be treated with care and installed with caution.
Gas Fires
Gas fires can be fitted into most existing fireplaces, while a new hole-in-the-wall style fireplace can give a really modern look. Moving a fire up off the floor creates a contemporary style statement and can work well in a period property.
There are gas fires available for all kinds of flues. Installation requires a CORGI (Confederation of Registered Gas Installers) registered engineer.
CORGI regulations require its members to work to recognised standards.
DO NOT ALLOW ANY NON-CORGI REGISTERED PERSON TO INSTALL THE APPLIANCE
This is likely to lead to damage to the appliance, invalidate the guarantee and possibly make the appliance unsafe. Proof that installation was carried out by a CORGI registered gas installer will be required to validate any warranty repair claims.
HotPrice.co.uk does not offer a fitting service. However, to find a CORGI registered gas installer local to you please use the search function below.

Electric Fires
Installation of electric fires is often as simple as placing it where you want it and plugging it in. Please do pay attention to the detailed instructions provided with each product though, as some need a stability bracket affixing if they are to be free standing rather than fixed in place, and there are numerous safety warnings to take into account. This is especially important where children and the elderly/infirm will be around. Wall hanging electric fires will require some competence to fit to the wall but fitting templates are usually provided where required. If you are having any electrical work done in your home other than plugging the fire in to an existing socket, it is now necessary to use an appropriately qualified electrician. Easy access must always be available to the electrical supply isolator for the fire whether it is a plug socket or fixed fused spur.
Solid Fuel Fires
Installation of solid fuel and wood burning appliances requires a Competent Person who is registered with a scheme operator, such as HETAS established as such under Building Regulations Part J for that type of work.

How Should I Prepare My Home For the Installation of a new Fireplace?
Adequate preparation is an important step. Since each home and fireplace is different, there can be a variety of different steps required in order to properly prepare your home for the installation of your new fireplace.
For example, If you are installing a gas fire, you will need to have a suitable transitional chamber so as to comply with current regulations and manufacturer instructions. If you are a relatively handy homeowner, then you may be able to carry out some of the building work prior to installation, this may help to minimise the labour on the part of the installer.
When preparing for the installation itself, you can remove rugs, electrical equipment, wall-mounted pictures or other decorations, and furniture from the room where the installation will happen. Furniture which you leave in the room can be covered with sheets to protect against dust or debris which may be stirred up during installation of your new fireplace.
