Energy Labelling for Wood Burning Stoves

New labels to make your decisions clearer

Energy LabelIf you have bought a new fridge over the last few years you may have noticed that it came with a label that showed its energy efficiency.

The good news for HotPrice customers looking to buy a new wood burning stove is that the Energy Labelling directive has now been applied to solid fuel appliances from April 2018. If you are concerned about minimising your carbon footprint and saving money on your fuel bills, the new labelling system should make it easier to make decisions based on the efficiency of your wood burning or multi fuel stove.   Although it looks like that these will qualify for the highest rating – an A rating – because of course, they use renewable energy.

The new labels will show the supplier's name or trade mark, the model number, the energy efficiency class and the direct heat output in kW rounded to the nearest decimal point and will be available on all new appliances manufactured from April 18 onwards.

Of course, if you buy an appliance that is not covered under the labelling directive, don’t forget to ask our staff about any aspect of your new stove. We will be happy to help.
